CPD CLINICS 2

Event Details

The Board is committed to meeting the specific needs of individual engineers in relation to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program. As spelt out in the Engineers Act 2011, fulfilment of CPD requirements in reference to the minimum attainable CPD points is a requirement for renewal of practising license for professional and consulting engineers. Whereas majority of engineers have appreciated the need for structured lifelong learning as promoted through CPD, the Board has established that there is a perceived challenge in achieving the annual 50 CPD points required by the policy that is mainly attributable to lack of awareness in the various avenues in which engineers earn CPD points.

To this end, the Board is organizing CPD clinics to help engineers understand the application of the policy and offer personalised services to be held at Barabara Plaza on:

  • 2nd & 3rd December 2019
  • 10th & 11th December 2019

The clinics will provide a platform for creation of CPD awareness and addressing challenges faced by engineers in keeping and updating their CPD logs. The clinics will have the Board’s staff on site to handle challenges faced by individual engineers in various CPD aspects including management of the CPD portal.

In course of the clinics, engineers attending the clinics shall be informed of:

  • General CPD requirements for graduate, professional and consulting engineers
  • CPD modalities – Structured vs. Unstructured CPD
  • CPD Logs – managing CPD activities on the CPD portal, and updating CPD points earned from attending courses/activities not organized by either the Board, IEK or an accredited service provider
  • Compliance – what shall happen in case of failure to attain the minimum CPD requirements
  • Inadmissible CPD
  • Non acceptable evidence when claiming CPD points from external courses/activities
  • Guidance on supporting CPD acceptable evidence
  • CPD audits
  • Frequently asked questions – through Q&A

The Board’s staff on site will attend to individual engineers and help them to;

  • Sign up for the CPD portal
  • Upload acceptable CPD evidence to claim points for external courses/activities
  • Update contact details as requested by individual engineers
  • Create sensitization on navigating through the CPD portal
  • Address any other concerns raised by individual engineers regarding CPD logs
